We define philanthropy as the giving of resources in an engaged and strategic way for maximum impact and in a tax efficient manner. It can include the giving of money, assets, time, talent, voice and one’s social capital. We believe in the power of philanthropy as a great social connector and the source of many great opportunities.

A Wealth of Opportunity

Can philanthropy boost your career?

Jun 7th 2012

Two philanthropists at different stages of their giving journey will discuss whether philanthropy can boost a career at an event organised as part of the Engaging Experience Philanthropy Network (EEPN) programme being held in the historic and beautifully crafted oak-panelled surroundings of Temple Place on June 26th.

Marcelle Speller, founder and CEO of Holiday-Rental.com and LocalGiving.com, an experienced and well-known philanthropist will interview, and be interviewed by Michael Harris, co-founder of Young Philanthropy and full-time associate at PwC.

They will discuss their personal approach to philanthropy and how it has impacted their careers, from the insights and skills they have acquired to the networks they have accessed.

The event is co-hosted by The Bulldog Trust, Localgiving.com, Young Philanthropy and City Philanthropy - A Wealth of Opportunity, which has as a main thread of its campaign to promote philanthropy in the City an aim to encourage people to view philanthropy as an essential part of a successful career.

At the event, there will be an opportunity to network and meet ground-breaking charities and social enterprises. Details of the specific skills each one is looking for will be circulated.

The EEPN presents business professionals with interesting opportunities to apply their skills to charitable causes. Regular events give members the chance to meet, and be inspired by peers, senior business figures and carefully selected charities, social enterprises and projects in need of commercial expertise as leading philanthropists.

People wishing to attend should RSVP marina@bulldogtrust.org– though places are limited.
