Booming global middle class could change face of world giving by 2030 with $224bn donation

In 20 years time the UK may not be among the top giving nations in the world; overtaken by the BRIC nations and their booming middle class.

Wealthy donors use head and heart when giving to charity says new report

Evidence of impact and personal connection to a cause are the biggest influence when it comes to giving to charity by wealthy individuals says a new report.

A survey by the capacity-building charity Pilotlight, that connects business leaders with charities, found that while over 70% of philanthropists and City executives said a personal link to a charity was behind their decision to donate, nearly 60% said information on the impact of the charity’s work was a key factor.

Wealthy young philanthropists want to bridge gap between rich and poor - new report

The next generation of wealthy young philanthropists want to use their money to bridge the gap between rich and poor, according to a major new global survey.

Nearly half (44%) of wealthy under 30s pointed to the gap between rich and poor as the biggest problem facing society today - compared with fewer than a third (28%) of the over 45s, according to the report by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), which promotes charitable giving and provides financial services and social finance to not-for-profit organisations.
