80,000 Hours is a community that encourages people to become effective altruists – people who make helping others a significant part of their lives and try make their help as effective as possible. Its members focus their careers on helping others by campaigning, innovating, becoming professional philanthropists, improving effective organisations, and researching.

Alive and giving

Alive and giving is a charity comparison and fundraising site that promotes considered charitable giving. The site allows users to search for, compare and donate to registered charities. It uses information from the Charity Comission to provide an undestanding of where the charity works, who it supports and it financial situation. They then provide a link for users to visit the charirty's site in order to donate.

Benefacto

Benefacto is an online employee volunteering platform which is designed to make it easy for volunteers to get involved, easy for charities to enlist amazing volunteers and make it easy for corporates to engage their workforce in volunteering. They currently work with thirty small charities in London and enlist hundreds of volunteers across multiple city firms.

City Action, backed by the City of London Corporation, is a free volunteer matchmaking service for businesses based in the Square Mile. It supports City businesses looking to establish or develop employee volunteering programmes through a range of services including a bespoke volunteer matchmaking service with community organisations in the City-fringe boroughs.

CITY.COMM is the umbrella organisation for the City of London's Third Sector, providing practical support to frontline organisations such as information, training and development advice. It helps organisations work together more effectively, and facilitates their involvement in the City's policy planning.

ELBA (East London Business Alliance) creates possibilities in East London by connecting business to local people, alongside public and community partners, to enable social, economic and infrastructure change.

Encore Futures

Encore Futures facilitates strategic level, high impact volunteer projects in charities for experienced professionals who are looking for a new challenge. Introductory workshops for individuals to explore how their skills and experience can make a difference through their next stage of life are also available. Encore Futures’ approach focuses on understanding motivations, supporting transitions and building reciprocal relationships in order to achieve meaningful social impact for both charity and the individual.

Heart of the City enables companies to develop Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) through learning from one another.

If your business is based in the City of London or neighbouring boroughs you can access its free Newcomers programme. Its programme explores the key areas of commuity, environment, supply-chain and employee-wellbeing.

New Philanthropy Capital (NPC) is a think tank and consultancy dedicated to helping funders and charities make the greatest possible difference.

It offers advice based on in-depth research of social issues and tried and tested methods of analysing social impact. It encourages debate about what makes charities, social enterprises and funders effective, and provides organisations with the tools to help them measure their impact.
