This report from the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) into philanthropic behaviour, ‘The Art of Adaptation’, reveals wealthy donors’ attitudes towards philanthropy advice and their expectations of professional advisers.

With an increasing number of wealthy individuals turning to their trusted adviser for philanthropy advice, CAF explores how understanding clients’ philanthropic aspirations and values can help advisers better serve their clients’ broader interests.

CAF polled over 1,000 wealthy individual donors - those with a minimum of £1million in liquid assets - to understand if wealth advisers were meeting their needs and if they could be doing more.

Key findings:

  • 39% of those polled have previously sought philanthropy advice
  • Two-thirds of those surveyed felt that adivsers could do more
  • Those who had taken advice tended to give more that the average donation
