We define philanthropy as the giving of resources in an engaged and strategic way for maximum impact and in a tax efficient manner. It can include the giving of money, assets, time, talent, voice and one’s social capital. We believe in the power of philanthropy as a great social connector and the source of many great opportunities.

One Year On: The Accelator Impact report: the story so far of cohort 1 (autumn 2012) is the latest report from The Young Foundation, analysing the success of their Accelerator course.

The Accelerator course aims to help social ventures acquire the skills and connections needed to secure substantial social investment, contracts and/or grant funding which will enable them to scale up their operation and increase their social impact.

Findings include:

  • Each business saw on average 343 per cent growth
  • Each business received more than £75,000 worth of additional investment
  • Together they have helped more than 285,000 people as a result.
